Isn't this a Trash Can?
NO! These are our composters!

Didn't you ever wonder where we put all of our leftover food?

Our Sound to Sea staff will collect buckets of compost from Trinity Center kitchen and the staff apartment on Mondays and Fridays. With each bucket of compost, 2-3 scoops of saw dust will be added and stirred. The Johanna hot compost bin traps heat, protects the compost from too much moisture and curious animals, and still keeps the compost nice and airy! It lets us compost all year round!

The winds were strong and the surf was/is up but thankfully Hurricane Sandy didn't change route over the weekend as expected and is passing the Southern Outer Banks by.  Although bridges and local stores remained open, Trinity Center had a few groups leave a day early so participants who lived north of us in the "action" area could get back to their families and prepare for Sandy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who will be effected. We will be thinking of you.

Below are pictures that were taken at the Oceanana Pier located near Fort Macon this past Saturday. (Pictures were taken by The Crystal Coast.)

OH SANDY!

Oh Sandy, we are keeping our eye on you!

Trinity Center is open and running this weekend and will be keeping a close eye on Hurricane Sandy. Currently, we are expecting a rainy and windy weekend with concerns of beach erosion. Trinity Center expects the storm to pass by, but we understand the nervousness that can surround storms and are prepared either way. Our staff will monitor Hurricane Sandy and can provide hourly updates, we will also have an overnight person in the Point of Arrival for emergency purposes. Please let us know how we can assist you.

As for now, guests that are currently on property are enjoying our gentle ocean breeze and the surf!
